My room cooled down today but I wasn't feeling the greatest. So I'm taking the easy route out today and posting a picture I took a while back. As I was leaving the house, I saw a plane heading pretty close to the moon. I thought it looked pretty cool.

Tonight, I went out to attempt to take a picture of Jupiter near the moon. They will be really close the next couple of nights. Tomorrow night, the moon will be just above Jupiter. From my deck, there was a tree that was obstructing my view. You could see both and I thought it might be a cool shot but I soon figured out that to get any detail on the moon, you had to take a fairly quick picture (fast shutter speed). When you did that, you couldn't see any of the tree limbs. So I went with plan B. I intentionally didn't focus on the moon, instead I focused on the tree limbs.

Sarah and I are getting into the homestretch. We had a doctors appointment today and everything is looking good. Baby is head down, and we are just in the waiting phase. I used the Google editing program Picnik to edit this. I have only used this program a couple of times but it is incredibly easy to use. I hate that it is going away. Hopefully some of these functions will be available in Google+.

About two weeks ago my best friend Lee asked me to help him build a monster truck cake for his son's birthday. After one practice run, tonight we tackled the real thing. Here is the almost finished masterpiece. Imagine it with big chocolate donuts for wheels, sparking candles coming out of the smoke stack, and dry ice smoke coming out of the hood. We practiced with a candle and when you blow out the candle, smoke comes out of the stacks.

My niece Alexa asked me to draw her a dragon today. She has markers to draw on the glass door. I drew the dragon, and she colored it and added a pretty good castle (upper left corner). I went outside to take the picture as she pressed her nose to the door.

Today Sarah's school threw a shower for her/us. I was able to go and I snapped this picture. There was also another cake, punch, and her staff gave us some great gifts. I don't know that I will ever be completely ready for Tadpole to get here but I think we are about as ready as we can get.

Since this is a blog about pictures, I thought it would be fitting to include a picture of my camera gear. Many of the pictures so far have been taken with my iPhone but a lot of them have or will be taken with some of this gear. I have a Cannon Rebel, zoom lense, fish eye lense, four memory cards, a few filters, three batteries and a remote control. The bag is a new one, since I outgrew the old bag I was using.

This is a picture of the top two shelves in Tadpole's room. The top is a Disney castle toy that my brother and I used to play with. The lower shelf has a ceramic train that my Grandma. Mabel made and a Bomba book like my dad used to read.

A friend of mine at work today gave me a present for Tadpole that I absolutely love. If you are a fan of the Big Bang Theory, you know the song "Soft Kitty." This is a stuffed cat that plays "Soft Kitty." How awesome!

Today our families threw a shower for us. We got some really great stuff and it helped relive the anxiety for us about some of the things we were going to need to get. Here are a few pictures from today.
Our baby "cake"
What sick person thinks of the idea to put melted candy bars into a diaper? I'll never eat another snickers.
My mom and sister-in-law seemed to enjoy it, however.
Thanks to everyone who gave us a gift, even the ones that I didn't know what they were.
Blanket from my Mom and sister-in-law
Don't you love the reaction?
Sarah's uncle Don is due sometime in March. HA HA

Sarah has a doctors appointment today. One if my favorite places to shop is at Half Price Books in Westport. So since it is near her doctor my visits have been getting more frequent. Almost every time I go there I find signed books. I've found books signed by everyone from Jimmy Carter to Ted Nuget. Today was no different. I found three signed books including one be General H. Norman Schwarzkopf.

Sarah and I have really gotten a lot done over the break. Tadpole's room is basically finished, just waiting on the bed to come in (Thanks Mom and Dad!). Most of my school stuff is caught up and I got a little bored. A while back we saw a target a set of finger lights. Basically these are little LED lights that have a Velcro strap to go on your finger. So I went into Tadpole's room, which at that point was mostly empty and turned off the lights, set the shutter to stay open on my camera and started "light painting." I had seen this on a web site a while back and thought it was cool. I've tried this a little before with sparklers so I thought I would try it with these lights. It turns out, I'm not bad at this. . . if I do say so myself. Here are a few of my best pictures.

As much as it pains me to say this, I'm ready to go back to school tomorrow. I've really enjoyed the break and I feel like we have gotten a ton of stuff done, including Tadpole's room. Today we tied up a few loose ends and ran a bunch of errands. One of them was to get Sarah's rings inspected at Kay Jeweler at Metro North Mall. I remember as a kid what a cool thing it was when dad would take us to the mall we would get popcorn from Topsy's (one of the only stores still open there) and watch the balloons. We always got super excited when one of the balloons would hit the ceiling. As Sarah was getting her rings worked on, I walked over and took this picture. Those balloons are still going.
